As a fell runner I should say that Shining Tor, the highest peak in Cheshire is best, but in fact the sight I love most and which can be seen from a great distance is the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell bank. I can see it from the hills of Saddleworth where I live. I once cycled from London to Liverpool in a day and remember thinking as I came over Harecastle Hill and saw Jodrell Bank rising above the Cheshire Plain that I was near to home.
