Farm Details
The Cholmondeley Estate extends to approximately 3,500 acres. There are 35 farms, of which 24 are dairy units, located on the Cheshire Plain, ideal dairying country. The farms are all family run. Other properties include cottages and commercial properties, including offices, a Farm Shop, Post Office, Public House and Sports Club.
Woodlands extend to 400 acres, of which half are grown as commercial forestry and the remainder for conservation, landscape and sporting purposes.
Around 25,000 visitors come to Cholmondeley each year to enjoy the Castle Gardens laid out by the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, and rare breeds. These include longhorn and highland cattle, pygmy goats, and llamas amongst others.
A newly established Children’s Corner in the stable block contains chickens, rabbits, lambs and an aviary containing 25 species.
Visit Details
They offer school visits to the Educational Trail at Deer Park Mere. A visit would take two to three hours. There are no lunch facilities unless the visit is on an Open Day when the tea rooms are available. An Education Pack can be supplied for Deer Park Mere aimed at Key Stages 1 and 2.

Booking in advance is necessary, as far in advance as possible, over the telephone or email. There is no charge for using the Educational Trail, unless visiting the Gardens on Open Days. There is a coach park in the grounds. They can accommodate up to 100 people.
