Farm Details
Broad Oak Farm is a mixed arable farm with traditional breed suckler cows, pigs and sheep. The arable crops produced by the farm include potatoes, spring barley and grass. The farm is run by Mr and Mrs Booth. The farm is 33.8 hectares in total and is tenanted from the National Trust. It is situated on the Dunham Massey estate and is on the urban fringe of south Manchester. At Broad Oak Farm, strong emphasis is placed on the countryside stewardship scheme and extensive work has been carried out with the RSPB with the aim of encouraging birds to the farm. Broad Oak is also a profile farm on the FACE website.
Visit Details
Facilities include a tour of the farm and an education room. The farm is about to install an apiary with plastic sides so it is possible to view the bees inside. They also have nesting boxes with cameras in and a link to the education room where you can watch the birds. The minimum time for a visit is two hours, but the length after this can vary depending on the age of the children, anything up to six hours. Lunch can be eaten in the education room.

Booking should be done in advance. The farm can accommodate groups from 5 to about 80 people. Visits can take place on Mondays, Wednesdays or at the weekend. There are no costs involved. Parking for coaches is available.
