Only a week left to stand up for Cheshire's countryside!

Please ask the Government to protect England's precious countryside.

The Government has set out its planning reforms within the National Planning Policy Framework. As it stands at the moment, the Framework would seriously weaken protection for the countryside.

The reforms represent the biggest shake-up of planning for over 50 years. They will place the countryside under increasing threat and leave local communities and planning authorities largely powerless in the face of developer pressure.

However, you now have a chance to make your views heard as the Government is asking people for their thoughts on the proposed changes.

The easiest action is to sign one or both of the two online petitions:

·       38 degrees: http://www.38degrees.org.uk/page/s/save-our-countryside

·      National Trust’s at https://www.planningforpeople.org.uk

If you have signed the petition, please also take the chance to respond to the national consultation, which will run until 17 October.  It's vital that as many people as possible let the Government know they value the planning system and how it protects the countryside.

CPRE's national site, www.cpre.org.uk, has a draft response that you can use to feed back your views. If you can personalise it it will have even more impact. You can access the draft response via the link below:

Don't miss the chance to have your say!
