Bill Bryson to become CPRE's new President

We are delighted  that popular American-born writer, Bill Bryson, is set to become our new CPRE President, taking over from Sir Max Hastings following the national AGM in July.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Bill has lived in and loved England for over 30 years, and put his passion for our lovely and varied countryside into print in books such as ‘Notes from a Small Island’.

The problem of litter in both urban and rural areas is one of his major concerns, and he will be spearheading CPRE’s efforts to solve this, though he shares our views across the board, and will be working with us on all of our aims.

See our press release here for more details.
