Walkers explore HS2 route in Mid-Cheshire
CPRE members joined to walk part of the proposed route for HS2 in Mid-Cheshire at our guided walk.
The walk took place Sunday, 9th July between Billinge and Whatcroft near Northwich and was led by Ros Todhunter.
It provided a very good opportunity to see evidence of subsidence firsthand where in a number of areas it was clearly visible that the banks had subsided, land around the railway line had dropped from its original level and bridges had had to be rebuilt because they had sunk considerably. All of this evidence seems to indicate that there will be extensive and expensive difficulties with the new HS2 line.
Thanks go to not only to Ros Todhunter for leading the group but also to CPRE Cheshire members Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan for providing well earned refreshments following the walk. You can see photos from the day below.
