Lion Salt Works visit and AGM 2025

20th March 2025

Join us for our 2025 AGM event on Wednesday 14th May. After a short Annual General Meeting, we’ll have tea, coffee and biscuits followed by a visit to the historic Lion Salt Works.

The event will start at 2pm and finish around 4pm. It will also include an Extraordinary General Meeting item to vote on converting our group to status as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

If you are a member and can’t make it to the meeting, you can complete and return a proxy voting form (Agenda plus form in Word or Agenda plus form in PDF).

Set just outside Northwich in the village of Marston, the Lion Salt Works was the country’s last open-pan salt making site. The buildings and exhibits offer a fascinating journey through the site’s history and the impact of salt on mid-Cheshire’s people, economy and landscape.

To make a full day out, you could also plan to explore the footpaths and waterways of the adjacent Northwich Woodlands and the wider Weaver Valley including the Anderton Boat Lift.

To book

The event is FREE to attend (including the visit to the museum), but for catering purposes please contact info@cprecheshire.org.uk to confirm how many places you would like.
