Planning application and infrastructure proposal responses
Recent comments on planning applications, development proposals, and appeals.
We aim to monitor both planning applications and nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP) proposals in the area we cover.
Planning applications are decided by local authorities, while national infrastructure proposals are decided by central government.
But as a small team of volunteers, we can only respond to a limited number (see how you can help us do more). We do also provide resources to help individuals make their own comments. For more information, see help with responding to planning applications.
Note this website list starts with responses made in February 2026. We have of course made hundreds of responses before this.
We also make contributions to strategic consultations on Local Plans and other policies relevant to the countryside and rural communities.
List of responses and appeal submissions
Seddon Homes, off Crewe Road, Winterley
61 homes on open countryside close to a small village. We’re objecting because the village has already been subject to a substantial amount of new housing
development, has virtually no infrastructure, and relies heavily on vehicle use.
Objection to application25/4533/FUL – March 2026
Peak Cluster consultation
The Peak Cluster project is an NSIP to install pipelines and associated infrastructure to capture and store CO2 from the cement industry. We are particularly concerned about the impact of above-ground infrastructure on the countryside and on biodiversity.
Peak Cluster phase 1 consultation response – Feb 2026
Bloor Homes, Prestbury Road, Macclesfield
Approx. 200 homes on Green Belt
We originally objected to this application in February 2025. We then submitted an updated objection in July 2025 following further submissions by Bloor. The application was refused by Cheshire East Council, but the developers have now gone to appeal.
Submission to appeal (APP/R0660/W/25/3374597) – Feb 2026
Appeal submission appendices 2-4
Appeal submission appendix 1 – updated objection to original planning application 25/0210/OUT
Help us fight for the countryside
The countryside is under threat as never before, and we need to step up our efforts to protect it.
With increased housing targets and weakened Green Belt protections, we are seeing a huge increase in applications to build on inappropriate green field sites. Putting together strong objections and running campaigns takes both time and a sound knowledge of planning legislation. This means we need money for professional input to supplement our volunteer team’s efforts.
