Hedgerow champion sought!

25th July 2021

Hedgerows are the vital stitching in the patchwork of our countryside. Not only are they beautiful, with shifting seasonal colours, but they also provide homes and corridors for wildlife. And all the while they help tackle the climate crisis by capturing carbon from the air and storing it in plants, slowing climate change.

We want to use our Hedgerow Award Scheme to highlight and share good practice in hedgerow planting and management across Cheshire, as well as give feedback on how to improve to entrants whose hedgerows do not qualify for an award.

We are looking for a volunteer with expertise in Hedgerow management for wildlife to lead this scheme. Our friendly team in CPRE Cheshire will provide you with support to develop and administer the Awards scheme.

This is initially a home-based role with some attendance at meetings, including online meetings and events. Some potential for travel around the county is envisaged and we provide out-of-pocket travel expenses should this be required
